Is Australian licorice really the best? Why can’t movie theaters serve white chocolate peppermint popcorn? And if you had a candy Lego block would you rather eat it or build something with it? We B Nuts and Stuff recently opened in the Ranchmart Shopping Center, 9437 Mission Road, Leawood, selling those items and more including a variety of fresh nuts, dried fruits, and specialty candies.
Owner Denise Kelley couldn’t find fresh nuts for her children on Valentine’s Day 2010 so she decided to open a store to stock them herself, along with other items. She spent a year researching companies, to find small niche mom-and-pop operations. “For example, I have a Minneapolis company that specializes in caramels, cremes and truffles; a South Carolina company that specializes in pecans — praline, honey-glazed, toffee. And a Lawrence company that does smoked and seasoned pistachios. The best of the best.”
The current inventory at We B Nuts includes curry mango smoked pistachios, mustard pretzels, raw Spanish peanuts, divinity, chocolate covered graham cracker Clodhoppers, colorful Lego-like candy blocks, dark sea salt caramels, chocolate covered Gummy Bears, chocolate covered marzipan, pastel licorice, Wasabi peas, butter mints, jelly beans, trail mixes and party mixes, and dried fruits such as figs, blueberries, tart cherries, apricots, and apple rings. There also are lemon drops as well as cherry pie drops and root beer drops, sugar-free candy, and nine flavors of truffles.
More items will be added in the weeks ahead, and Kelley also hopes to open two more We B Nuts locations.
